Filling up a total of 1,26,728 posts to village secretariats, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has made an interesting promise. He said that the posts are just the beginning and that his government is committed to filling up vacancies across all government departments.
The new CM said that January has been earmarked as the month of recruitment. Exams to fill up government vacancies will be held every year from January 1-31.
While the idea sounds novel, the YSRCP government will have to do a lot of catching up to meet the commitment. "Conduct of exams is just one of the first steps in filling up vacancies. It's a crucial step after the notification of an exam but there is always a long way to go before results are declared and postings allotted. In some cases where interviews are involved, the wait can be longer. How does announcing January as the month of recruitment going to change all this?" an aspirant of state services says.
