Promoting "Mr and Mrs Mahi," her next movie, is something Janhvi Kapoor is doing non stop. She talked about how her mother, the late great actress Sridevi, changed her outlook on life and strengthened her religious convictions in an interview with The Lallantop.

"My mother had several superstitions, including 'avoid wearing black on Fridays,' 'don't cut hair on Fridays to avoid blocking Goddess Lakshmi from visiting the house,' and 'certain activities should be done on specified dates,' Janhvi said. These were never superstitions I took seriously. But once she died, I began to follow them—maybe too much. I'm not sure if I was this spiritually and religiously minded while she was here. We did as Mamma had done. But as she passed away, I began to find greater solace in our faith because of the connection our culture and history had with Hinduism.

"She would say Narayan, Narayan, Narayan' nonstop," she said. She spent her working years going to the temple on her birthday every year. She gave it up after getting married. I made the decision after her death to go to the temple on her birthday each year. I had an intense emotional outburst the first time, but I also experienced tremendous mental calm.

Born to filmmaker Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, Janhvi has a sister named Khushi Kapoor. Tragically, in 2018 Sridevi drowned in an accident in a hotel in Dubai. 2019 saw the release of Janhvi's debut film, "Dhadak." In "Mr and Mrs Mahi," which opens in theatres on May 31, she will play a cricketer.
