Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her Telugu debut in Koratala Siva and Jr NTR's "Devara." Sharing her experience, she revealed feeling a deep connection with her late mother, Sridevi, during filming. Speaking to Film Companion, Kapoor discussed her role alongside Jr NTR, expressing joy and a departure from previous roles that involved drastic physical demands or unconventional scenes.
Expressing her connection to her mother's journey, Kapoor highlighted how Sridevi faced similar challenges when entering Hindi cinema without knowing the language. She recalled how her mother was initially considered a 'parrot' due to repeating dialogues phonetically. Kapoor finds parallels in her Telugu debut, despite not being familiar with the language, relying on recording dialogues and being affectionately termed a 'tape recorder' on set.
She remarked on the warm welcome she received in Telugu cinema, feeling embraced by the team and finding comfort even before filming commenced.
"Devara: Part 1," directed by Koratala Siva, features Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist. The movie also stars Bhaira, Prakashraj, Srikanth, and Shine Tom Chacko, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Scheduled for release this year, the film's teaser is set to unveil on January 8, 2024.
