Ajith is desperate for a hit. A string of failures has pushed Ajith to try his hand at a mass film and his latest Jana is a complete rehash of Rajni starrer Baasha.Directed by Shaji Kailash, Jana is completely out of sort movie, where the actor is portrayed as a violent aggressive man fighting to clean the system similar to the one by Amitabh Bachchan in Shaenshah.

Shaji Kailash is known for his good quality movies in Malayalam. Unfortunately in Tamil, his debut venture Vanchinathan starring Vijayakanth was disappointing, while Jana too is not very far. After a miserable show in Anjaneya in which he played the character of an honest policeman, Ajith plays the role of a Mumbai gangster in Jana.

The movie begins in a remote village Thamaraipadi, where Ajith renders service for village. Sneha, daughter of Radharavi, comes from Mumbai for her vacation. She falls in love with Ajith and returns to Mumbai with his photograph. She eventually comes to know about his past life. Ajith goes all-out to wage a battle against gangsters and criminals. He incurs the wrath of an antisocial Siddiq, who kills his mother Sri Vidya and his brother Manoj K Jayan.  This forces him to reach Tamilnadu

with his father Raghuvaran, to lead a peaceful life. Troubles do not end for him there. The villain and his associates reach the village and pick up a fight with him.

He seems to have relished playing such a role, which has fiery dialogues boasting the hero. Sneha looks fresh and done well as heroine. Music director Dheena, who composed the hit song Manmadharasa in Thiruda Thirudi, fails miserably in his attempt to render catchy tunes. Ajith who had done quite good roles in movies like Vaali, Mughavari has failed to perform at his best on screen.

The movie produced by Khaja Mydeen, is sure to take a beating at the box-office.
