In a heinous crime that has left the entire nation in shock, the headless body of a 3-year-old, who was sleeping at the Jamshedpur railway station beside her mother and was reported missing, has been found a week later. The accused, who has been recorded in the CCTV camera at the station, is seen carrying the sleeping child and walking out of the station. The girl was then reportedly gang-raped and beheaded, after which her torso was dumped in a plastic bag near the station.

The child's torso was recovered from some bushes in the Telco police station area on Tuesday night and sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to locate the head, according to the Superintendent of Police. The accused, Rinku, is allegedly a repeat offender, who has been arrested and convicted for kidnapping and killing children earlier. "Rinku was earlier convicted and sentenced to a two-year jail term for abducting with the intention to kill a seven-year-old child from Jemco-Azadbasti locality on April 9, 2015. He was sentenced to a two-year jail term in March 2018. He came out of jail a few weeks ago," the DSP stated.

The accused and his associates were arrested after the CCTV footage at the station was scanned by the police. The torso of the girl was recovered from a bush near Tatanagar's Dhobi Ghat area. "We recovered the headless body of the girl from the bushes in Ramadhin Bagan Tuesday night after Rinku revealed that he had dumped her body and told us the location. We took him along with us and found the headless body though he has been insisting that he didn't behead the victim but admitted to killing her. She had injury marks on her private parts, indicating rape but we are awaiting post mortem report," the official further added.
