James Vasanthan was the first to suggest in his social media page to boycott the IPL which would bring national media attention to the burning Cauvery issue. This sparked off a major protest which saw the rest of the matches of the IPL shifted to Pune and national and international media attention was grabbed on the urgency of setting up the Cauvery Management Board.
James Vasanthan and Madhan Karky have joined hands for yet another social cause by producing a song in Kannada titled "Oda Heetavare" (dear brothers and sisters). The lyrics tell the Kannada people the pain of the Tamil farmers starved off the Cauvery river and the politics behind it so that they could understand it in their own language. The song which would be released in a couple of days or so is sung by Sathya Prakash, Saindhavi, Aalap Raju and Rajesh Vaidhya.
