Lijo Jose Pellissery's 'Jallikattu' is out of Oscars race

According to the list announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday, Mollywood director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Jallikattu, India's official entry in the Best International Feature category at the 93rd Academy Awards, is out of the Oscars race.
The film failed to find a place in the 15-film shortlist for the Best International Film. The movies that feature in the shortlist are Another Round, The Man Who Sold His Skin , Quo Vadis, Aida?, Dear Comrades, Charlatan, Two of Us, La Llorona, Sun Children, Night of the Kings, I’m No Longer Here, Hope, Better Days, A Sun along with two documentaries The Mole Agent and Collective.
Lijo Jose Pellissery's "Jallikattu" is based on the short story Maoist by Hareesh and stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran. The movie won accolades from all corners and won awards several international awards too.
Meanwhile, Karishma Dev Dube-directed "Bittu" has made it to the Best Live Action Short Film shortlist for the Oscars. The final nominations for the Oscars will be announced on March 15 and the Award ceremony will be held in April this year.
