Superstar Rajinikanth is a global sensation loved by many all around the world. His new movie "Jailer" has just come out, and people were really excited to see it. Well, read our review here.
Story:
Muthuvel Pandian, also called Muthu (played by Rajinikanth)leads a simple life with his family. Muthu's son Arjun (played by Vasanth Ravi) is a good police officer. Arjun gets into a fight with Varma (played by Vinakayan), who's involved in the illegal trading of old things and statues of gods. Arjun goes missing, and Muthu finds out that his son was killed, so he starts looking for the people responsible and kills them.
Analysis:
Nelson Dilipkumar, the director, did a good job of showing Rajinikanth. But, the story isn't so strong. The first part of the movie is good, but the second part is not as good. There are some funny and exciting moments in the first part, but the second part doesn't keep the same excitement. The director maybe ran out of ideas because the second part feels a bit slow and some of the jokes don't work.
When it comes to performances, Rajinikanth's return is a big deal. His character was made by the director Nelson in a really interesting way. At first, Rajinikanth's character is quiet, but later on, he becomes really strong and tough. Rajinikanth's timing for funny moments is great too. There are some funny scenes with Yogi Babu that are really entertaining. Ramya Krishna supports Rajinikanth well.
The music by Anirudh is important for the movie. The background music he made adds a lot of feeling to the scenes. The songs like "Hukum" and the interval part are much better because of Anirudh's music. The camera work by Vijay Kartik is good, even though it's not too amazing. The way the movie looks is nice, and the production quality is good. Maybe some parts could have been cut to make the movie shorter.
Jailer could have been better if the story was stronger. There's a lot of action in the movie, but it doesn't make us feel very excited. Also, the emotions in the movie don't feel very strong. The movie is a bit too long, especially in the second part where some parts could have been made shorter. The appearances of famous actors like Shiv Rajkumar and Mohanlal are for fans but in the context of the film, aren't that great. Jackie Shroff's role is small and doesn't make a big difference.
Verdict:
Jailer is Rajini's show all the way. The manner in which Rajini steals the show will be loved by the fans. But the film does not have a great story. The first half is great but the second half is very bad and falters when it requires the most and picks up only during the pre-climax. In a way, fans will love Rajini and for the common audience, Jailer is just a strictly okay watch.
