Jailbird Sasikala, who was unseated as the AIADMK general secretary by the party’s general council meeting held on 12th September, returned from her Parappana Agrahara Prison complex to Chennai late last night after she was ‘released’ on parole which carries with it certain strict conditions.
Jailbird Sasikala had sought parole for 15 days to visit her ailing husband Natarajan, with whom she hasn’t been living for the past many years, who is said to be in a ‘serious’ condition at a Chennai Hospital. Prison authorities had earlier rejected the plea of jailbird Sasikala, who has spent only 8 months in prison of her 4-year long rigorous imprisonment in the assets case, to visit Chennai.
Her second application seeking bail was accepted and she was allowed only four days of parole and is all set to return to her prison cell on 10th October (next Tuesday). She left the Prison yesterday at 03:00 p.m. and reached Chennai by car late in the night. She would be staying at her sister-in-law Ilavarasi’s (her prison-mate) daughter Krishnapriya’s T. Nagar residence (off North Usman Road) during her parole period.
The conditions stipulated while granting parole to jailbird Sasikala have instructed her that she should only visit the Hospital from her place of stay. She should visit no other place/temple and shouldn’t have arranged meeting with any politician or others. She can stay at the hospital only from 09:00 a.m. till 05:00 p.m. and shouldn’t take part in public meetings/events. The jailbird has also been restrained from speaking to the media or indulging in any political activity.
