Former State Minister K.P. Munuswamy, an ardent supporter of deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam and a prominent leader of the unified AIADMK, has described as 'feeble' and in vain the efforts being made by jailbird Dinakaran to postpone the verdict of the Election Commission in allotting the ‘Two-Leaves’ symbol, name and flag of the
erstwhile AIADMK.

After the demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK split into two groups led by jailbird Sasikala (former aide of the former chief-minister who has been accused of purposely not taking good care of the latter during her days at the Hospital culminating in
her demise) and O. Panneerselvam.  Later, when Sasikala landed up in prison, slowly but steadily, the Edapadi K. Palaniswami-led faction moved away from her and her nephew and jailbird Dinakaran and merged with the OPS faction.

Backed by money power (earned during the past three decades), jailbird Dinakaran is doing his best to challenge the unified AIADMK’s appeal to the Election Commission to allot to them the party’s name, symbol and flag (the same was frozen early this year).  Both the EPS-OPS and jailbird Dinakaran factions have filed voluminous documents and
affidavits with the Commission which takes up the case again today.

Speaking to newsmen before leaving for New Delhi for the hearing, Mumuswamy said that jailbird Dinakaran’s side, which had provided plenty of wring data to the EC, was trying its best to delay the verdict in the case.  “We are sure to be allotted back our symbol of ‘Two-Leaves’, name and flag of the party,” he said and added that jailbird Dinakaran was ‘jobless’ and had been issuing meaningless and irrelevant statements.
