On Day 1, 'Jai Lava Kusa' had both hits and misses. Here we bring you what the film could do and couldn't.

HITS:

By getting a share of Rs. 30.12 Cr., the NTR-starrer became the fifth biggest share-earner in the history of South Indian cinema in terms of worldwide collections on Day 1.

By earning a share of Rs. 21.65 Cr, it became the second biggest (non-Baahubali) grosser in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

It's the best NTR movie as of the end of Day 1 in the US. 'Janatha Garage' is at No. 1.

It has set a record in Tamil Nadu, although not significant in terms of the amount gained. Released in Telugu in the neighboring State, the emotional drama on Thursday grossed Rs. 70.50 lacs. This is the highest for a Telugu movie in TN, with the share standing at Rs. 40 lacs.

MISSES:

It failed to pip the record set by 'Khaidi No. 150' in the Telugu States. The NTR-starrer trailed the Chiranjeevi movie by Rs. 1.85 Cr in AP/TG put together.

Worldwide collections of the film trailed that of 'Khaidi No. 150' by almost Rs. 5 Cr.

In the US, it failed to trump Sardaar Gabbar Singh's USD 616,054. It made do with USD 589,000. (The figures are Premieres + Day 1).

Conclusion:

Overall, barring its underwhelming performance vis-a-vis Megastar's 150th film, 'JLK' put up a fabulous show on its release date. Let's see if this momentum continues.
