Disney Plus Hotstar's latest Tamil original series, 'Label,' delves into the complexities of judgment based on skin color, origin, and occupation. Set in the crime-ridden Vaali Nagar of North Chennai, Prabha (Jai Sampath), born and raised in the area, strives to combat societal prejudices stemming from unjust labels. The title also alludes to the influential gangs dominating the criminal landscape, emphasizing the power associated with their 'label.'  Only the first 3 episodes of the series are released for now. 

Under the direction of Arunraja Kamaraj and production by Muthamizh Padaippagam Productions and ARK Entertainment, 'Label' unfolds with Prabha, a lawyer, aiming to reform the youth in his gang-infested locality. Jai Sampath delivers a convincing performance, portraying Prabha's determination to erase the criminal stigma attached to his community. Tanya Hope, as Prabha's love interest Mahitha, maintains an average performance.

Sriman excels as Prabha's mentor, while Ilavarasu, in the role of a senior cop, captivates in every scene. Mahendran and Harishankar Narayanan impress as local goons aspiring to climb the gang hierarchy, and Jasper adds a comedic touch as the formidable goon, Paathalam.

'Label' unfolds as a poignant drama with a powerful underlying message, highlighting the prejudiced perception of individuals from reputedly crime-ridden neighborhoods. Kamaraj weaves a compelling narrative, portraying Jai's battle to inspire youth to break free from their criminal surroundings.

Despite a familiar premise, the show takes an intriguing turn at the end of the third episode, leaving viewers eager for more. However, the decision to release only three episodes initially may deter some viewers from returning for the rest. 'Label' stands out as a well-crafted series with compelling characters and an engaging plot, and one can only hope it sustains its momentum in the subsequent weekly episodes.
