Truth about the controversy over Suriya allegedly paying for 'Jai Bhim' Oscar honor

Suriya's latest movie 'Jai Bhim' that started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 2nd 2021 scored record viewership worldwide. The film which spoke about the injustice meted out to the downtrodden tribals of Tamil Nadu by people in power has recieved unprecedented critical acclaim from all over the globe. It also toppled the longstanding cult classic 'The Shawshank Redemption' and took the first place on IMDB rankings.
'Jai Bhim' is also in the official list for the Oscars for 2021 and a video of the director T.J. Gnanavel providing information on the film has been featured on the official YouTube channel of the Academy Awards.
A social media user created controversy by stating that Suriya paid a sum of rupees 372000/- to feature on the Oscar YouTube channel. He also projected that anyone who pays such an amount can get their films on the channel.
The rules and regulations of the Scene at the Academy clearly states that only films that have been submitted for the Best Picture consideration at the Oscars is only eligible for the special honor. Hence though the stipulated fees should be paid, films that are not qualified will not be featured as claimed by the social media user.
Netizens have pointed out that 'Jai Bhim' indeed earned the honor to be the first Tamil film to be feautured on the Oscar YouTube channel. It is also proved beyond any doubt that Suriya has gone about the campaign for his prestigious film in the right spirit following all the rules of the Academy Awards organization.
