The Academy has announced the names of 276 feature films that are eligible for this year's coveted Oscars. 'Jai Bhim', the message-oriented drama starring Suriya and which has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is one of them. Mohanlal's Malayalam movie 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham' is the other one.
The 'Jai Bhim' nomination comes just days after the Academy recently put out a behind-the-scenes video from 'Jai Bhim' as an educative experience. "The movie had also received official entry to the prestigious Golden Globes 2022 in the Non-English language Movie category," the makers today said.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film is produced by Jyotika and Suriya of 2D Entertainment. Lijomol Jose, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh and others have acted in the movie.
As for 'Marakkar', it was released in theatres in the first week of December, 2021.
