Suriya's latest movie 'Jai Bhim' which started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 2nd has recieved both high critical acclaim and record viewership. The film has also toppled the number one film on IMBD the cult classic 'Shawshank Redemption' with a staggering 9.6/10 rating.

'Jai Bhim' deals with a real life lockup death case in the 90s of a tribal man and his wife's fight for justice. Suriya has played the role of advocate Chandru who argued the case. Even as the film is winning laurels on a day to day basis it has also raised controversies.

PMK leader and MP Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday wrote a letter to Suriya seeking answers to 9 questions that he posed to the actor. The gist of it is that he accused the team of painting the Vanniyar community as evil by naming the cruel cop as Gurumurthy and claimed there were other hidden elements in the film as well. Suriya has written a strong reply to Anbumani Ramadoss in which he has made it clear that he or his 'Jai Bhim' team had no intention to paint any community in the red. He emphasized that the film is about how Justice Chandru when he was an advocate dealt a case and brought justice to the wronged woman and also show the state of a marginalized tribal community to the world. He further added that a film is not a documentary and there is a clear disclaimer that the occurrences are depicted and does not refer to anyone living or dead.

Suriya pointed out that history has shown that whoever gets power in their hands irrespective of which community they belong to when they do not have the good of the downtrodden people in their minds they misuse it.

The 'Edharkkum Thunindhavan' hero assured that he will never under the guise of creative freedom make veiled attacks on any community and also underlined to Ramadoss that creative freedom should not be stifled at the same time. He further let the politician know that he has gained enough name and fame to seek cheap publicity through such tactics.

Suriya finished off by saying that he and Ramadoss should continue doing what is good for the people in their own ways and hoped that his stand is understood in the right perspective.
