Suriya's legal drama 'Jai Bhim' which was released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2nd 2021 is continuing to garner critical acclaim all over. The film was the official entry for the Academy Awards for 2022 and it was featured on the official Oscar YouTube channel too.

Earlier this morning Jacqueline Coley of The Rotten Tomatoes raised expectations for the film by tweeting "#JaiBhim for Best Picture. Trust me on this one.". Fans ever since were waiting with bated breath for the nominations to be made.

At around 6.30 pm IST the Oscar nomination list for 2022 was announced and sadly 'Jai Bhim' did not feature in the Best Picture category disappointing millions. The films that were nominated in the Best International Feature Film cateogories are 'Drive My Car' (Japan), 'Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom' (Bhutan), 'Flee' (Denmark), 'The Hand of God' (Italy) and 'The Worst Person in the World' (Norway). However all concerned can take solace in the fact that the hardhitting 'Jai Bhim' has done proud and achieved such unprecedented reach and mention in world cinema.

'Jai Bhim' produced by Suriya was directed by T.J. Gnanavel with music by Sean Roldan. While Suriya played the role of lawyer Chandru, Lijomol Jose and Manikandan played the pivotal characters of a tribal couple who face tragedy at the hands of ruthless policemen.
