Keeravani gets it right
Thursday, May 19, 2005 • Telugu Comments

Keeravani has no frills about him. He just delivers and keeps quiet. The bragging and the boasting are not for him.

In Jagapati, Keeravani sticks to his strengths even while incorporating what the market demands. The thing is that he has got the mix and match right.

1)  Nuvve Na Pranam

An average tune. But what may make it succeed is its essential simplicity. Shreya Ghosal oozes melody through every word. Udit Narayan, despite his abominable pronunciations, is bankable as a singer. The combination works fine.

2) Nenu Ninnu Ishtapadindi

The start is slow and melodious. The softness just creeps into your system. The tune is really lilting. Though Keervani the singer gives his best, his singing talent is no match for his music-scoring skills. Yet, the song has its magic and moments with Sumangali giving a wonderful backing, bringing out the sweet juices of in the number. The pick of the album.

3) Cheera Kattu Vayasu

When you hear Chitra's lilt and confident rendering, you feel comfortable. Tippu, though not in the same league, as usual manages with his bravado stuff. The tune, not the most original, slowly takes you over. The orchestration could have been more interesting.

4) Choose Koddi Ninne

The thing about S P Balasubramaniam is that he never lets down any song. Chitra is in the same category. When both these trust-worthy veterans join hands, even if the song is rank bad, they can be trusted to salvage the situation. Mercifully, the tune and the orchestration are okay, and hence what emerges is a hummable number. Though its genre or style is slightly confusing, the number has some very good orchestration.

Not out of the world. But not bad, also.
