A relief for Namitha fans at last. Their favourite star's 'Jaganmohini' has successfully crossed a legal hurdle and is all set to hit the screens on Deepavali as planned.
In a letter to Gemini Colour Laboratory a copy of which was released to the media, advocate A Chidambaram, the counsel of AL Alagappan who had filed a suit in the Madras High Court demanding a stay on the release of the movie, said that he would withdraw the case by reporting "settlement".
"I write this to inform you that as per the out of Court mutual settlement arrived at among my client Mr AL Alagappan and Mr J H Murali (producer of 'Jaganmohini'), the entire matter had been settled amicably among themselves and I have been requested to withdraw the suit along with the Application for injunction and attachment and accordingly I will withdraw the case by reporting "Settlement" before the Hon'ble High Court."
"Therefore, in view of the above settlement, my client has no objection for release and delivery of prints of the above said picture."
The Madras High Court on Tuesday ordered an interim stay on the release of Jaganmohini till October 15. When a petition filed by Alagappan for the recovery of money from producer of the film, Murali, came up for hearing, Justice G Rajasuria passed the interim order on the release of the film.
