Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday flagged off 1,088 ambulances in Vijayawada. These will be available for 108 and 104 healthcare services in the urban and rural areas, respectively.
The ambulances reportedly cost Rs 203.47 Cr. The government said that the ambulances will ensure services to "every village in less than 20 minutes".
"Among the 412 new 108 vehicles, 104 are basic life support and 282 are advanced life support vehicles and 26 (two for each of 13 districts) neonatal ambulances. As many as 656 vehicles will be inducted into ‘104’ service," reports The New Indian Express.
Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy said, "Today we are launching 1088 Ultra-modern mobile medical units for effective delivery of 104 and 108 services. One MHU for each Mandal. Apart from oxygen cylinders, the new ‘108’ vehicles are equipped with advanced neonatal equipment & has provision for delivery."
