In view of the second wave of coronavirus getting fiercer, the Andhra Pradesh government today announced that the night curfews have been extended to become partial-day curfews. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has imposed a curfew from 12 PM till 6 AM startomg from Wednesday (May 5).

In the order, the authorities said that shops/establishments can function from 6 AM to 12 PM. During the curfew hours, only essential services shall remain operative.
The State logged 23,920 cases as of the end of May 2 (8 PM). This is the highest figure ever. The peak of the second wave in States like AP was expected to not go beyond 15,000.
During the non-curfew hours, Section 144 will be in force. There can be no congregation of more than 5 people.
