Ahead of his forthcoming release, director Yogesh talks to about his brief hiatus, RGV and Jadoogadu. indiaglitz notes it down.
Why did you take so long to direct a film after Chintakayala Ravi?
I`ve been dabbling with various scripts and I was looking for the right kind of script and perfect canvas. I believe you can make a good film if you have all these perfect.
Any specific reason to pen to make an action drama
I find the plot line to be very interesting element and thought if we can execute it well then the film work outs. So we worked on the script and packaged it well.
Why did you choose youngsters as the lead cast of film
Naga Shourya and Sonarika might be new but they already faced the camera. I want to give the film a young and fresh look and I went with them. Moreover, the story is young in nature and I need youngsters who can compliment that story to enhance the emotions.
What`s the USP of the film?
It`s an out and out action entertainer. Generally action scripts heavy to handle on the mind of the audience, but this film will be a perfect blend of action and humor. So we even came with the tagline, an action entertainer, and it`s a genre defining one.
Isn`t it a risk to pick Naga Shourya for an action film?
Actually, it`s not a risk because he`s not coming with a baggage. Also, his character in the film goes through ups and downs, and for such a role, I don`t need an actor with any image. I just need an actor who can pull it off and he did a brilliant job.
What research did you do for the film?
The film as itself is not a real-life story but it has several incidents and real life experiences. My friend Madhusudhan, who wrote the story, has put down a few incidents from his life. When I heard them I always had in mind that it would be great if we can put these thoughts and make a film. So that`s how we could formulate the story based on the real life incidents. The film has personal experiences of Madhusudhan.
You worked with RGV; did he give any inputs to this film?
RGV did not give me any inputs for the film as is the case with him but he always influences me forever. Any filmmaker has his trademark – be it romance, action, horror, etc., the way he takes the story into the audience, the way he treats the film, etc. So I was influenced by these techniques.
What to look forward to in the film?
Naga Shourya and Sonarika is an interesting combination. Both are energetic on and off the screen as well and that`s what exactly we need for the film. There`s a love story interlaced within the film. There are a whole lot of things to look forward to in the film and I`, eagerly waiting for the audience feedback. I hope people like it and if you appreciate the film, we keep attempting such films. And this is not an experimental but a commercial movie. So I hope the audience will like it.
