Early reports suggest international action superstar Jackie Chan, 61, is currently in final talks and negotiations to star in STX Entertainment's action-thriller 'The Foreigner'.

'The Foreigner' will be based on an adaptation of author Stephen Leather's best-selling novel 'The Chinaman' published back in 2008.

It is also being said STX Entertainment is still looking for a director to take over the film. However, reports suggest they might have zeroed in on Nick Cassavetes ('The Notebook' and 'The Other Woman').

Here is the book's synopsis:

"Jungle-skilled, silent and lethal, Nguyen Ngoc Minh had killed for the Viet Cong and then for the Americans. Imprisoned and tortured after the Communist victory, he escaped with his wife and baby daughter to Hong Kong - but only after being forced to watch Thai pirates rape and kill his two eldest daughters. 'The Foreigner' is reportedly being expected to go down for filming later this October.
