'Jaanu' is that kind of rare love story that spans several years. A period drama set in the 1990s, it has Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni playing lead roles.

Director Premkumar sticks to the essence of his Tamil original '96', wherein Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan were not just endearing but also unparalleled. Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni, it seems, have risen to the occasion in reprising them.

Childhood love, tenderness, the pain in adulthood - the soul of the film seems to have been captured by the teaser. A smattering of Samantha wailing in the presence of Sharwa goes to show that 'Jaanu' is going to be an intense experience.

With music by Govind Vasantha and cinematography by Mahendran Jayaraju N, the drama promises some soulful songs, penned by Sirivennela Seetharamasastry and Shreemani. Editing is by the talented Praveen KL.
