'Jaanu' is the first major release of February. Coming out this Friday (February 7), the film apparently is hinged on the chemistry between Samantha Akkineni and 'Ranarangam' actor Sharwanand. If the film's trailer is anything to go by, we can safely assume that the lead pair has done a great job.

That said, the romantic drama has a big task ahead. Its pre-release theatrical business, says a credible trade report, stands at Rs 21 Cr. Since this is a classy love story, 'Jaanu' will have to do remarkably well in multiplexes. Break-even is in sight if you consider the fact that producer Dil Raju's movies are always almost successful.

Directed by Kollywood filmmaker C Premkumar, this is Dil Raju's going-against-the-grain film. He dared to remake a classic ('96' in Tamil, which starred Vijay Sethupathy and Trisha Krishnan). Assuming that a good chunk of the audience hasn't watched '96', 'Jaanu' will be a fresh experience to them.
