Director Amal neerad is known more for his action based films which mostly dealt with the underworld. ‘Big B’, Sagar Alias jackey reloaded’ and ‘Bachelor party’ with its intriguing making style , slow motions and technical finesse have made a lot of fans for the director. But with the new movie on production titled ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’, Amal Neerad is trying to change his image with a different genre.
A period thriller, Iyobinte Pusthakam’ will have Fahadh Faasil, Lal and Jayasurya playing the lead roles. The plot of the film is based on the Biblical story from the Book of Job, and is to be set in the years from 1947 -1957. Supported by an ensemble cast, the movie will portray the story of an ordinary man who faces a lot of family and social problems during British India. He tries to hide and overcome them but fails miserably. But a miracle awaits him that is sure to change the course of his life. The film will span the period from 1910 to 1970, though the focus will be on 1940’s which will make up most of the movie narratives. The movie will thus chronicle the socio-political developments of the period.
Lal plays the title role in the film while Fahadh's character is named Aloshi. Isha Shervani is Fahad’s screen pair and the movie also centres around their love. ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’ is filmed and co-produced by the director himself, while Fahad Fazil debuts as the producer with the film. The scripts of the movie are handled by Gopan Chithambaran & Syam Pushkaran. Fahad maintains that this is an author backed film for which the script writers has worked for around two years to make it perfect. So a historical/mythical tale inspired from the Book of Job, a chapter in the Old Testament is made in to a period drama with the movie.
