After Rajnikanth, its now Vijayakanth who is facing the wrath of Paattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for his remarks. The issue is hotting up with the activists of PMK attempting to prevent screening of the films of the actor and the burning down of the effigies of PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss by the Vijayakanth Fans Association.
The PMK activists were irked by actor Vijayakanth's reported criticism that Dr Anbumani, son of PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss, had become a Union Minister without even facing elections. Vijayakanth had made the remark at a public meeting in Kallakurichi recently. The activists of PMK damaged boards put up by the Vijayakanth Fans Association and the actor's cut-outs at a few places in Chennai and Villipuram. Following Vijayakanth's remark against his son,
Dr Ramadoss described Vijayakanth as half-baked person lacking any political knowledge. Posters were stuck in and around Villupuram condemning Vijayakanth for his utterances. Vijayakanth's fans too reacted sharply to Ramadoss's criticism of the actor. Following these high-voltage events, the film distributors in South Arcot, North Arcot and Chengalpet areas are seemingly hesitant over releasing Vijayakanth's next release Gajendra, as they had a bitter experience in the past with regard to Rajni starrer Baba, the release of which was marked by protests from PMK cadres.
Sources close to Vijayakanth say, the actor, who had expressed his desire to jump to politics in the past, is playing a wait and watch game now. He would take right decision in this regard at the right moment, they say.
