It's Sex versus Religion at box office! Who will triumph?

Traditionally both sex and religion are hot cakes in Bollywood. Both Aamir Khan's PK and Vidya Balan's DIRTY PICTURE prove the point. Thus this week Bollywood is set to witness a clash of sex versus religion at the box office with Sunny Leone's EK PAHELI LEELA and the veterans of Indian Cinema's Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal and Anu Kapoor's DHARAM SANKAT MEIN.
According to trade pundits both the films have their respective audience and both might fare well. Trade analyst Atul Mohan is confident that Sunny Leone will not let down its film makers as she has created a fan-base for herself and EK PAHELI LEELA should get a good opening.
On the other Atul feels that even DHARAM SANKAT MEIN must get a bumper opining because it has Paresh Rawal. He says, “Since Rawal has made a brand name for himself with his hit films like HERA PHERI, ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE and of course with OMG (OH MY GOD, that tackled a similar religion subject and was a huge hit film hence film buffs may pour in large quaintly expecting something intriguing.”
Speaking about the two films while DHARAM SANKAT MEIN is a satirical take on religion and being based on Josh Appiganesi's THE INFIDEL exposing the religion film buffs can expect an intellectual and hilarious movie. Further the presence of stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal and Anu Kapoor the movie appears to be intriguing.
In contrast Sunny Leone's EK PAHELI LEELA is reinventing the reincarnation genre, which has been a hit formula in Bollywood since Dilip Kumar's MADHUMATI to Rajesh Khanna's KUDRAT to Rakesh Roshan's KARAN ARJUN.
Besides the successful reincarnation theme what makes EK PAHELI LEELA a paisa vasool movie is the presence of sex siren Sunny Leone, her sexy jalwa will surely leave the audience gasping!
While trade pundits are diplomatic in their analysis, cinema owners are more confident of Sunny Leone's EK PAHELI LEELA taking an edge over DHARAM SANKAT MEIN because the front benchers (who are large in numbers) usually go for sex.
Hence Anand Vishal, Head of Operations Fun Cinemas rightly presumes, "I think EK PAHELI LEELA will be a bigger success than DHARAM SANKAT MEIN because EK PAHELI LEELA is packed with titillation and steamy sex ingredients, which generally appeal to Tier 2 and Tier 3 sectors."
