In a rare course of events, a very senior movie critic is turning a movie director. Prof K Gopinathan who is much famous for his writings and books on cinema is finally on the track to create one. Yes, his debut movie titled 'Ithra Mathram' is almost complete and will grace the theatres soon.

Featuring Shwetha Menon and Biju Menon in the lead roles, the movie is a take on Kalpatta Narayanan's book with the same title.
 
The movie opens with the untimely death of the lead female protagonist Sumithra, an ordinary housewife played by Shwetha Menon. In the funeral ceremony of Sumithra, her neighbours and relatives admire her being a wife, home maker and the number of roles that she played for them. The movie mainly focuses on her college days and her interaction with her husband Vasudevan. This movie will be told through the memoirs of the closer relatives of the lead character. It is also sure to offer Shwetha Menon, the year's best actress award winner, a well focused and author backed role to show off her worthy talents as a dependable artist.
          
'Ithra Mathram' will also have Nedumudi Venu, KPAC Lalitha, Prakash Bhare, Thashi Bharadwaj, Vinu Joseph, Royson P.S, Master Manu, V.K.Sriraman, Anoop Chandran, Gayathri and Sajitha Madathil in the cast lines . Jayson J Nair composes music for this film for the lines written by Rafeeq Ahammed and Kunjhiraman Nair.

Much of the movie has been shot by K G Jayan in and around locales at Wayanad. Art direction is by Salu K George. Ithra Mathram' is produced by P. K. Santhoshkumar and A. I. Devraj under the banner of Triangle Creations.
