In what may be called a moral beef with The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,1960, Pawan Kalyan has pointed a finger at the dichotomies in the said Act. Wading into the hotly-debated Jallikattu ban issue, Powerstar went beyond the immediate issue and drew a debatable parallel between cattle slaughter not disallowed by the law and Jallikattu/Kodipandem ban allegedly allowed by it.

"If we truly consider this puritanical approach, we have to examine the statistics of Indian Beef export and Indian Poultry industry. India is the largest exporter of beef in the world. 2.4 million tonnes of beef and veal was exported by India in 2015. And beef export fetches almost USD 5 billion, with 14 pc growth rate every year. Imagine how many cows, calves and buffaloes should be slaughtered to get 2.4 Million tonnes of beef. How come this kind of slaughtering doesn't attract animal cruelty? Just because we don't see it. Why is the Animal Cruelty act applied only to Jallikattu, where the animals getting injured or killed is insignificant when compared to the amount of animals that had to be slaughtered for business?" he asked.
