Controversial dodman Kalki Bhagawan's properties have come in for Income Tax raids. Officials have reportedly been searching his and his son's properties in Varadaiahpalem of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh and in Hyderabad, respectively.

Simultaneous raids have been reported from not just AP and Telangana but also Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

It may be noted that Kalki and his son have faced several allegations of land grabbing, among others, for many years. They are believed by many to have links with powerful politicians.

The rise of the self-styled godman is quite astonishing. Back in the late 1980s, he claimed to be an incarnation of Vishnu Himself. Before becoming a self-employed Godman, he had been a follower of Jiddu Krishnamoorthy.
