Atlee, the director of Raja Rani and Theri/Police fame, was said to be interested in making a film with Mahesh Babu. When he was in Hyderabad as part of promoting the recently-released Vijay-starrer Theri/Police, the director was quoted as saying that he had been in talks with a Tollywood superstar. Everybody concluded that it was Mahesh Babu. Post the not-so-impressive run of the Telugu version, that is, Police, in Telugu, the news was not heard much. Moreover, Mahesh himself has two bi-linguals lined up one each with AR Murugadoss and Vikram Kumar. Given this, Atlee, who is yet to prove his mettle as a mass director who knows the pulse of the Telugu audience, hasn't apparently been on Mahesh's list.

The latest buzz is that Atlee's next hero is Karthi. Well, this only confirms that he is not going to make a film with the Telugu superstar for the next two years, at least.

According to our sources, Atlee's film with the Oopiri actor will be an edge-of-the-seat action thriller to be produced by AGS Entertainment.
