'Current Theega' is releasing today (31.10.14) and Manoj Manchu, who played the lead in this film, talked about the film, Rakul Preet Singh, Sunny Leone, Jagapathi Babu, his upcoming movies, about working with senior directors, about helping Hudhud victims etc in an interview.

Excerpts from the interview

Best film

The team work for 'Current Theega' is very good and it reflected in the output of the film. Every technician worked wholeheartedly for this film without creating any disturbances. I assure that the film will not disappoint the audiences. This is the best film in my career and I am very satisfied after watching the film onscreen.

Will be loved

Though the film is the remake of Tamil film, 'Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam', it is well adapted to the Telugu nativity. It will be in director Nageswara Reddy's style and director's Tirumala Kishore has given very good dialogues. The film will be loved by the Telugu audiences.

We're not bothered about it

Sunny Leone has done an excellent job and her scenes have come out well. She is a very dedicated artist and she used to come to sets very early and talks with the unit members in a very friendly manner. She has no egos or any other such things. We have to respect her for her dedication. We are not at all bothered about her profession because, she is doing bravely what others do secretly.

Angry with me

My father doesn't know who Sunny Leone is. She used to come to sets very traditionally. My father was impressed with her dedication and one day when he is talking about her work, Ram Gopal Varma said "Mohan Babu garu you don't know who she is really is" and showed some pics of her. My father was initially very angry with me but when I convinced him by saying that she is a very good actress in Bollywood now.

She brought craze

When we were contemplating on whom to rope in for the teacher role in the film, my friend suggested Sunny Leone. I was surprised first but when my director and unit members about the idea of taking her into the film, they were excited. My brother also agreed to include her in the film. She has brought a lot of craze to our film.

Not because of her

We are releasing the film in 25 countries not because of Sunny Leone but because of the confidence we had on the film. 24 Frames Factory is based in New York and it has access to over 25 countries. As we have a very good confidence on the success of the film, we are releasing in so many countries. If we plan well, we can market our films in many films and I am confident that more films will be released in those countries.

I Love his clarity

I decided to work with Nageswara Reddy, when he was working for 'Dhenikaina Ready'. I liked his passion for movies, clarity and friendliness on the sets. I said him I want to work with him. He is also equally excited and we started working on a couple of subjects. A script was even finalized and when it was about to go to sets, someone suggested me to watch the Tamil film, 'Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam'. I loved the film and Nageswara Reddy also liked it. When we asked Vishnu, he bought the rights of the film and that's how we started.

Wonderful co-star

Jagapathi Babu's role is the backbone of this film. He immediately agreed to act in the film, when we requested him to. I think for playing a very important role in the film for us. Rakul Preet is one of my best co-stars. She has done a lot of hardwork for this film. She even learnt the dialogues, even if she doesn't understand Telugu. She is very dedicated and she can make it big in the industry.

Playing negative role

It is my luck that my market is increasing for every film and I could act in different roles in very less time. It is my dream to act as a villain and it is going to happen soon. It will finalized in a few days. My character will be completely negative and a big star will act as hero in that film. Audiences have accepted me in different types of films and I am sure they will do it if the story is good.

Should come forward

Vizag has been affected so much due to Hudhud and we have requested everyone, especially the youth to come forward to help the victims. We are fortunate that we had the support of over 500 students. We visited the affected areas and done what we can. Even now, I request everyone to come out and do their bit. I will again visit Vizag after the release of the film and will do social work like planting, renovation of old aged homes etc.

It's my biggest strength

My biggest strength is my confidence and I can do a lot of work without getting tired. It is impossible to get me tired.

Upcoming projects

I will act in a film to be produced by Ramesh Puppala and in a film, which I play a negative role. The details of both the films will be revealed soon.

Will work with them for free

RGV is a legend and I am looking forward to work with him. Not only him, I also want to work with senior directors like Dasari Narayana Rao, K.Viswanath etc. I respect them a lot and will act for free if they make a film with me.

Finally, Manchu Manoj once again asked everyone to come forward to help the Hudhud victims. About the film, he said that the film will be a complete entertainer, which will be loved by everyone.
