On April 11, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will go to polling.  The D-Day has, in its wake, brought a controversy related to the "unlawful behaviour" of IT and ITes companies.

A per the Forum of IT Employees (FITE), many MNCs in the Telugu States have not announced mandatory public holiday for their employees to be able to vote on Thursday.  Obviously, this violates the Indian Penal Code.  FITE has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission.

Most techies and employees working for MNCs are not natives of cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.  Their votes are registered in their native places and they would have to travel to their places to be able to use their vote.  In the absence of a paid holiday, it becomes impossible for them to travel.
