Highly awaited films such as such as 'Chandini Chowk to China' with action king Akshay Kumar and 'Bachana Ae Haseeno' are waiting in the pipeline.

Just within a short time after her arrival in the Tinsel Town, like the happenings in a fairy tale she got her prince charming in Randhir Kapoor, the pin up boy of lakhs of Indian girls.

Products of big companies sell like hot cakes when she appears in their advertisements.

And now she has been selected for the real life role of the grand Marshal at the 28th India Day Parade in New York organized to celebrate India's 61st Independence Day on 17th August.

The grand event is organized by the Federations of Indian Associations (FIA) which is umbrella organization of the Indian American community in the area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The big parade will start from the Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

When it takes years for most of the newcomers to get a firm foothold in the Tinsel Town, for this actress it did not take much time to make a mark.

Being selected as the leading lady for the India Day parade which attracts more than 50, 000 people is definitely an achievement although she might not have tried to be the Grand Marshal.

But more than that it is an honour and blessing for Deepika Padukone to be present in New York adding Bollywood glamour to the event.
