The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has hinted that it would launch satellite ‘Chandraayan-2’ into space later this year – preferably in October - to explore the Moon.
The work regarding the launch of Chandrayaan-2 is said to have reached its concluding stages. The satellite would not only explore Moon but would also help ISRO in many of its future plans. Launch of this satellite is also considered as a ‘milestone’ in the history of the country’s space research. ISRO also plans to send an Indian to the Moon some time later.
India had earlier launched Chandraayan-1 satellite and managed to put it in a ‘perfect position’ in its orbit in space. This project is still hailed as an epoch-making one as it was accomplished with minimum expenditure and based mainly on the scientific predictions of the country’s record-breaking scientists.
Besides Chandraayan-2, an unmanned ‘Rover’ (resembling a ‘Robot’) would also be sent into the orbit to travel to the Moon. The Rover is likely to aid Chandraayan-2 in the experiments/studies it plans to undertake in the Moon. Rs.800 crores have so far been spent on this project, commenced several months back by ISRO.
