On Saturday, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev criticized the US for its inability to bring about a solution to the long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict while Hamas launched an unexpected attack in Israel.
Medvedev said that in the case of Israel-Palestine conflict resolution, rather than struggling, the US meddled into Russia's affairs through supporting Ukraine. He called it meddling into relations between two very closely related peoples. According to him, The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been underway for decades, involving a whole series of world powers including the US as one of its key parties. But rather than actively working towards a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, these people have butted in on us instead -providing full-scale support to neo-Nazis and thus sowing discord between two 'real brothers'.
Earlier, Russia accused Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of driving a neo-Nazi line by suppressing the proponents for good relations with Moscow.
Medvedev asked why the US was focused on kindling conflicts across the globe and opined that only one in American territory might be feared to put an end to this tendency.
On Saturday morning, Palestinian terror group Hamas launched aerial bombardment targeting Israel, during which over 5,000 rockets were reportedly fired from Gaza into southern Israel while others made their way via pickup trucks. In response, Israel declared a state of war and rolled out its operation Swords of Iron that involved airstrikes in Gaza where Hamas is based.
The incident happened on the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, a 1973 war between Israel and Egypt-Syria that began with an unexpected attack by Egypt and Syria on Israel during the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur and ended with comprehensive victory for Israel more than two weeks later.
