Producer Gnanavel Raja, head of Studio Green, is facing a legal challenge after Reliance Entertainment filed a case in the Chennai High Court over an unpaid loan tied to several films. Reports reveal that he had borrowed â¹99.22 crore from Reliance for the production of Teddy, and Thangalaan, with only â¹45 crore repaid so far.
Alleging breach of contract, Reliance is demanding the repayment of the remaining â¹55 crores. The media giant has requested the court to block the theatrical release of Kanguva, starring Suriya, and restrict the OTT release of Thangalaan until the dues are settled. We have to wait and see if this case's verdict affects the release of Kanguva.
During a recent hearing, Studio Greenâs representatives assured the court that Kanguva would not be released before November 7, and Thangalaan would also stay off streaming platforms until that date. Justice Kumaresh Babu recorded this assurance and adjourned the hearing to November 7, bringing temporary relief to both parties.
