Producer Gnanavel Raja, head of Studio Green, is facing a legal challenge after Reliance Entertainment filed a case in the Chennai High Court over an unpaid loan tied to several films. Reports reveal that he had borrowed ₹99.22 crore from Reliance for the production of "Teddy", and "Thangalaan", with only ₹45 crore repaid so far.
Alleging breach of contract, Reliance is demanding the repayment of the remaining ₹55 crores. The media giant has requested the court to block the theatrical release of "Kanguva", starring Suriya, and restrict the OTT release of "Thangalaan" until the dues are settled. We have to wait and see if this case's verdict affects the release of "Kanguva".
During a recent hearing, Studio Green’s representatives assured the court that "Kanguva" would not be released before November 7, and "Thangalaan" would also stay off streaming platforms until that date. Justice Kumaresh Babu recorded this assurance and adjourned the hearing to November 7, bringing temporary relief to both parties.
