Director Shankar's Indian 2 which was progressing after numerous delays, had its shooting halted following an accident on the set, resulting in the loss of lives. Following this came the Coronavirus lockdown after which the director reportedly didn't receive a confirmation from the production house on resuming the film’s shoot.
Recently, there were rumours that director Shankar had written to the production house regarding the production plan for Indian 2. On the other hand Kamal Haasan had signed Lokesh Kanagaraj’s movie and recently did a photo shoot as well. Following this, reportedly Shankar has asked the production house with their plans for the project, besides allowing him to work on his next film if Indian 2 will face further delays.
However, contrary to reports of a letter from Shankar, Lyca's COO P Kannan has said that they hadn't been sent any letter by Shankar, and that since Indian 2 requires around 500-600 member crew the planning is in progress. Kannan has also said that the production house met Kamal Haasan regarding the issue and that they hope Indian 2 will resume shooting soon.
