Is Samantha indeed playing Mahanati?

The news that director Nag Ashwin (of 'Yevade Subrahmanam' fame) has got Samantha's nod for his forthcoming film has got many wondering if she is going to essay the role of Mahanati Savitri.

While Nag Ashwin has been ready to do a biopic on the legendary actress for many months now, it's not known whether it's the same script which he gave Samanth a narration.

Only recently, many reports said that Nithya Menon had been roped in for the role of Savitri. What is certain for now is that there are going to be mixed reactions about Samantha's suitability for the role. The question whether the would-be wife of Naga Chaitanya is indeed playing Mahanati will be posed until an official clarification from the makers.
