The sequel to Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The hype for 'PS2' skyrocketed after the first part became a Pan-Indian hit and won high critical acclaim. It is one of the highest-grossers in Tamil cinema. We all know that 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is slated to hit the screens worldwide on April 28.
'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is expected to surpass PS1's collection. The movie's shooting was completed long back and the post-production works are in full swing. Earlier, there were reports that the audio launch of the film was all set to happen on March 29. But a source close to the production team says otherwise now. According to the source, "The audio launch will happen grandly on April 5. There are only three songs in the film."
"Many celebrities in the industry are likely to grace the occasion. Post the launch, the team decided to go on a promotional tour that includes Kochi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and many other places. There is no change in the release date as well," added the source. The lavish music release ceremony will take place in Nehru Stadium, Chennai. The musical score for Ponniyin Selvan was composed by Isai Puyal AR Rahman.
PS-2 stars Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Shobita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Ashwin and many others. The story of Ponniyin Selvan revolves around the civil war inside the Chola dynasty for the throne and the conspiracy by Pandyas to avenge the Cholas, set around the 10th century.
