Is Mayavi a remake of Mast?

A few years ago came Ram Gopal Verma's Hindi venture Mast starring Urmila Matondkar.
It was the story of an actress kidnapped by a desperate fan and finally the actress falls in love with him for his innocence.
Urmila played the role of actress Urmila herself while Aftab Shivdsadani played the innocent fan.
Now the news is Bala's home production Mayavi is reportedly about an innocent tourist guide who kidnaps an actress who visits Mahabalipuram.
Eventually the actress falls in love with the tourist guide. Surya plays the guide while Jyothika appears as actress Jyothika herself.
So the question is Mayavi a remake of Mast.
