Is Hrithik bigger than SRK, Salman

  • IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,October 07 2014]

Hrithik Roshan the B-town sensation with Greek God looks also moonwalks with the tag of being the best body dancer, since YRF's Dhoom 2' the actor has being the mover and shaker at Indian box-office opening day and weekend grosses.

His latest Bang Bang' has just entered the coveted 100 crore club in four and a half days. The 140 crore Bang Bang' has taken 4.5 days to reach 100 crores.. will it be able to hold very strongly from now to reach its destiny ( a figure of less than 200 crore net may not satisfy the trade).. Only time will tell.

But it won,t be that easy as expected earlier.. There are some causes for concern.

The movie is under performing on the story line while the action and Hrithik Katrina charm is giving the audience their money's worth.

With the star power, holiday weekend doing its maximum leaving the movie to perform more on its merit and less on lead actor - Hrithik charm.

Considering Hrithik's previous records of breaking into the Khan's den with a great roar starting with Dhoom 2 (2006) Hrithik has being a sensation at Box office. Dhoom 2 broke many opening day and weekend records at that time... after six years of the Khans regime and not a very pleasant box office recognition, Hrithik- the b-town underestimated box office wonder struck back by breaking Salman Khan's Bodygurad' record by a whooping Rs. 23 crore day one on its Republic Day Holiday release.

Salman Khan-starrer Bodyguard raked in Rs. 21 crore released on Eid eve (31st August 2011).

Last year with Hrithik made his supremacy felt at again at the box office. Krrish 3 beat Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express highest collections (day one) of 33.10 crores with a single day gross of 36 crores (day four) last year on Diwali.

It seems unlikely for Hrithik to beat Salman and SRK again with Bang Bang' while the perfectionist Aamir remains untouchable with his outstanding Dhoom 3' box office achievement.

However the makers are dancing with joy and escaping from reality, director Siddharth Anand says, "I'm delighted. It's a massive achievement for all of us. It's amazing that Bang Bang is being loved by people, especially family audiences. It is a complete masala movie and we made it with the intention to entertain everyone. I make movies for people to enjoy, to forget about the stress that life anyway has for all of us. It is a full paisa vasool film and audiences are loving that."

Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios says, "Today Is a very special day for us at Fox Star Studios. When we set out to make Bang Bang, the 100 cr club felt too distant and today Bang Bang has crossed the 100 cr milestone in India in just over 4 days!!

The continue drop of Bang Bang' released in India around 4500 screens in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu after a stupendous day one collection of 27.5 crore..is making the industry worry.

Here is the break up from Thursday October 02 2014) till evening of Monday 06 2014 (4.5 days)

Thursday October 02 2014 (Day One) - 27.5 crores.

Friday October 03 2014 (Day Two) - 24.08 crore.

Saturday October 04 2014 (Day Three) - 20.10 crore.

Sunday October 05 2014 (Day Four) - 22.41 crore.

(The 140 crore Bang Bang failed to nail it Big on Sunday and failed to enter the 100 crore mark causing concern with just a nominal rise of around 10% from its Saturday collection). Total 4 Days (three holiday including Sunday) 94.13 crores. Net.

(Fabulous but with a 140 crore investment not that big.)

With the Holiday period over and more drop expected from Tuesday still after 4.5 days Bang Bang' made at a cost of 140 crore is still wait and watch..

When quipped Hrithik on this, the actor smartly skipped the mention about the holiday weekend not being as per expectation. But shared his gladness for its first day bumper response by saying, "That is so cool. Opening higher than a franchise film like Krrish3 and beating my own record is a one way to realize my own growth and strength. But after that it's not about me, I'm just glad I've been able to entertain my audience. And the entire credit for this humongous success goes to the whole starcast, the entire crew and especially to the director Sid Anand. I stand here in gratitude."

Hrithik also underlined the fact that Bang Bang' was not a solo release and it came with Haider' which is receiving praise from the niche end.

While Bang Bang has shown a drop from day one, Haider' (details in next report) has shown a growth day by day.

Due to think Hrithik will become bigger by beating Salman and SRK again with Bang Bang'...
