Is 'Evaru' a remake of 'Badla'?

'Evaru', the awaited thriller, is all set to have a confident release on August 15. The makers are holding grand premieres on the 14th.
Ahead of the release, the question remains whether the film is a remake of 'Badla', the Hindi film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Asked about the same, Regina Cassandra has said that 'Evaru' has nothing to do with 'Badla', which itself is a remake of the Spanish thriller 'The Invisible Guest'.
Going by the Trailer of the movie, the scent of 'Badla' is unmistakable, although changes seem to have been made in bits and pieces. For example, Adivi Sesh plays a cop instead of a lawyer.
The makers are tight-lipped about the truth. Debutant director Venkat Ramji, it is claimed, has penned an original story. The makers are banking on the film's twists and turns.
But the question remains: Why are the makers hiding the truth that it's a remake? The audience would know it anyways when they watch the movie.
