'Desi Boyz' has been certified as 'adults only' and resultantly, Akshay Kumar as well as John Abraham have been totally caught by surprise.

"When Akshay and John signed the film, they were quite convinced by young first time director Rohit Dhawan that despite them playing male escorts on the film, the film would never border on nudity or erotic content. They realised that as well during the film's shoot when Rohit stayed true to his word," says a senior crew member.

A source connected to the film adds, "I don't wish to point fingers at any particular movie or person but a recent biggie featuring a superstar was passed with a 'U' certificate even though many felt that it had way too much adult content to be digested by children. On the other hand our film wasn't even deemed fit enough for 'U/A' certificate."

"See, no one minds when a 'Murder 2' is certified as 'adults only' since that's the target audience", a prominent filmmaker adds, "Ditto for 'Delhi Belly' because Aamir Khan was sure from the very beginning that he didn't want kids to hear the kind of language which was used in the film. However when a movie like 'Desi Boyz', which is designed as a family entertainer, meets a similar fate, it only ends up raising a lot of questions."

Guess we would get answers to all the questions once 'Desi Boyz' hits the screens this weekend. Then it would be known by and only whether 'A' certificate for the film was indeed justified or not.
