A few days ago, it was widely reported that Akshay Kumar has been roped in as the main villain of AR Murugadoss' film with Mahesh Babu. It was presumed that SJ Suryah would be playing second fiddle to the Bollywood star. The rumour gained credibility because Akki is already part of Superstar Rajinikanth's 2017 release 2.0. Many found it credulous that Murugadoss might have done a Shankar.

However, the director himself has clarified that Akki is not part of the project. It goes without saying that SJ Suryah is the main villain. A set is being erected in Annapurna Studios for the purpose of shooting a song on Mahesh this month. The film has music by Harris Jayaraj, who is composing music for a Mahesh Babu for a second time, the first being Sainikudu.
