In a shocking incident, Iran "unintentionally" shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet. This has resulted in the killing of 176 passengers on board. It happened because of human error, Iran has said.
It's reported that the passenger jet was mistaken for a cruise missile. Since there is a fog of war ever since Iran's No. 2 was recently killed in an airstrike by the US, the jet was shot down immediately.
Latest reports say that Ukraine's president has demanded an apology and compensation from Iran. As per BBC Monitoring, Ukraine's President Zelensky today said, "Even before the international commission finished its work, Iran admitted its guilt in the downing of the Ukrainian aircraft. But we insist on full admission of guilt. We expect reassurance from Iran in readiness for a full and open investigation, holding those responsible accountable, return of the bodies of the deceased, payment of compensation, and official apologies via diplomatic channels."
