The Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) is not going to be held for now. The BCCI on Tuesday decided to suspend the game indefinitely. This came after an SRH player was proven to have contracted coronavirus today.
On Monday, two players had tested positive. It was the first instance of breach of the bio-bubbles created to protect the teams of IPL.

A report by TNIE said that the IPL is suspended for now, but BCCI is keen to resume after a week's gap. However, this is not to the liking of all the stakeholders. "A few franchises are against resuming the tournament in this situation," wrote journalist Venkata Krishna B.
Commenting on the development, commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote, "I guess it became inevitable in the last couple of days.....Look forward to calling the action in happier times. The #IPL is a great event and I hope it returns stronger when the world is what we knew it to be." Tweeted senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, "IPL suspended after a few more players test positive. The optics of a sports mega event going on while the country battles COVID 2.0 were never going to work."
