Yesterday, the dynamic Delhi Capitals side locked horns with this year's top-performing team Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 15th edition of IPL witnessed the first controversial incident last night when DC skipper Rishabh Pant asked his batters to walk out and sent a man to argue with the on-field umpire for an unfair decision.

In the last fixture, RR had put up a whopping total of 222 runs after losing 2 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Jos Buttler's third ton (116 off 65 balls) in the IPL 2022. DC scored 187 with 6 wickets down after 18 overs and RR's medium-fast bowler Prasidh Krishna bowled a stunning wicket-maiden penultimate over. DC required 36 off the last 6 balls with just 3 balls in the hand.

West Indian bowler Obed McCoy came to bowl the final over for Rajasthan Royals in yesterday's match. The power hitter Rovman Powell and Kuldeep Yadav were in the crease hoping to finish it off for the Delhi Capitals. Powell smoked two huge sixes in the first two balls and did the same in the third ball. The controversy transpired after the third delivery as McCoy missed the length and bowled a high full toss.

Powell and non-striker Kuldeep were asking the on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Nikhil Patwardhan that the delivery should've been given a no-ball on height. The whole DC dugout was expecting a free hit at the instant when the delivery was bowled. Captain Rishabh Pant, assistant coach Shane Watson and the rest of the members were disappointed at the poor umpiring.

Rishabh Pant, the devastated skipper, signalled the DC batters to walk out of the game as he felt that the umpires were unfair. He further sent the support staff Pravin Amre to talk with the on-field umpires but they hold their ground that the delivery was legal. The play continued after a big drama. Powell seemed to have lost the momentum amid all the confusion as he scored only 2 runs and also lost his wicket in the last 3 balls. RR won by 15 runs as DC finished with 207/8 after 20 overs.

Asked about the incident at the post-match presentation, Pant said, "I thought the no-ball could have been precious for us. I thought we could have checked that no-ball, but it's not in my control. Yes, disappointed, but can't do much about it. Everyone was frustrated because it was not even close, so I thought it was only a no-ball. Everyone in the ground saw that. I think third umpire should have intervened in between and said it was a no-ball, but I can't change the rule myself I guess."

Delhi Capitals assistant coach said, "It is very disappointing about what happened in the last over. What Delhi Capitals don't not stand for is what happened in the end. Whether it is right or not, we have to accept it. Someone running out on the field, is not good." Royals' captain Sanju Samson said, "It went for a six, it was a full toss and the umpire gave it a normal ball. But the batsman wanted it as a no-ball. I think the umpire made his decision very clear and stuck to it."
