Walking back to the dugout after losing his wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad on last night's match, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli angrily smashed a chair with his bat before making his way in.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with several people critiquing the Indian team captain's temper issues. Kohli, who lost his wicket to SRH all-rounder Jason Holder, got out for 33 runs from 29 balls in the fifth match of the tournament that happened at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. During the post-match presentation, he said, "The wicket was never a belter and our execution under pressure was spot on. It kept getting tougher and tougher with the old ball. I tried to build the momentum with few boundaries in the powerplay."
An IPL release later mentioned that Virat Kohli accepted to the offence - a Level I breach of the code of conduct. The release stated, "Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."
